Research & collections

Kulturstiftung Sachsen-Anhalt is not only responsible for maintaining and managing the monuments, works of art and cultural assets entrusted to it. Rather, its charter stipulates that the cultural foundation must also present them and subject them to academic scrutiny. This means carrying out research, managing the collections and returning expropriated works of art to their rightful owners, as well as maintaining an extensive library on several sites, bringing out publications, digitising our holdings and releasing the results in modern databases. These challenges are met both via the foundation’s own initiatives and with the help of capable partners. The Middle Ages, music or modern art: the research and collections run by Kulturstiftung Sachsen-Anhalt are as varied as the monuments it preserves.
